The Thoracic Outlet Syndrome (tos) and Its Apparent Relation to Multiple Sclerosis. a Preliminary Report

چکیده
Actually it is not widely known and it is also a controversial issue for some physicians. Moreover, it is sometimes strongly denied by those who have not had the opportunity of identifying it as a disease or even when they have not dealt with TOS patients. Sometimes, due to all the facts mentioned above, we have had to deal with the complications of the untreated TOS. We are confronted with a disease that is commonly undiagnosed by the majority of physicians.

Iatrogenic thoracic outlet syndrome caused by revision surgery for multiple subacute fixation failures of a clavicle fracture: a case report.
During revision surgical fixation of clavicle fractures and fracture nonunions, compression of the prominent neurovascular structures of the thoracic outlet can be an important potential complication. In this report, we describe the case of a manual laborer who had iatrogenic compression of the thoracic outlet of his dominant arm by fracture callus during revision surgery after multiple subacut...
متن کاملThoracic outlet syndrome as a consequence of isolated atraumatic first rib fracture
Neurogenic thoracic outlet syndrome (nTOS) resulting from an isolated first rib fracture is extremely infrequent. We report a case of performance limiting nTOS in a college athlete who was initially evaluated and treated for upper extremity ligamentous injury with only transient improvement. Subsequent noninvasive studies were consistent with TOS physiology and MRA showed a large hypertrophic c...
متن کاملNeurogenic Thoracic Outlet Syndrome Caused by Vascular Compression of the Brachial Plexus: A Report of Two Cases
Thoracic outlet syndrome (TOS) is caused by compression of the brachial plexus and/or subclavian vessels as they pass through the cervicothoracobrachial region, exiting the chest. There are three main types of TOS: neurogenic TOS, arterial TOS, and venous TOS. Neurogenic TOS accounts for approximately 95% of all cases, and it is usually caused by physical trauma (posttraumatic etiology), chroni...
متن کاملA Case of Traumatic Thoracic Outlet Syndrome
Thoracic outlet syndrome (TOS) due to thoracic trauma is a rare disorder. Surgical treatment of TOS is especially rare. We report here a case of traumatic TOS caused by right 1st rib and clavicular fracture after a traffic accident. The patient underwent first rib resection and open reduction with fixation of the clavicle through axillary and supraclavicular incisions.
متن کاملBypass Surgery in Arterial Thoracic Outlet Syndrome
Arterial thoracic outlet syndrome (TOS) causes ischemic symptoms; it is the rarest type, occurring in 5% of all TOS cases. This paper is a case report of a 38-year-old male patient diagnosed with arterial TOS, displaying symptoms of acute critical limb ischemia caused by thromboembolism. Brachial artery of the patient has been diffusely damaged by repeated occurrence of thromboembolism. It was ...
